Everyone must have a current GJ Sup Waiver & Release of Liability Form on file to rent equipment. If the individual is under 18 years of age, the waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. This waiver will be kept on file for one year.

CLINICS

Courses & Clinics

Courses & Clinics are educational base with the premise to teach SUP skills, techniques, teaching methods,water safety, environmental stewardship and  leadership skills. Courses & Clinics include: Swiftwater rescue, SUP skill & technique, landlock/ river surf and SUP yoga instructor trainings. Click on the Book Button to see the 2020 offerings.

MANDATORY GEAR:

*Board~ We recommend a board specifically designed for river surfing. Like the Badfish iSK8, WAVO, or IRS. If you have questions on whether your board is right for the clinic feel free to message us directly (GJ SUP also has board rentals available for $25)

*QUICK RELEASE LEASH ONLY or no leash (GJ SUP has rentals for $5) ~ GJ SUP also has some available for sell

*PFD (Personal Floatation Device)~ GJ SUP has rentals for $5

*Helmet ~ GJ SUP has rentals for $5

*Whistle~ We use the Fox40 (We have extra available to use if you don’t have one)

*Drysuit or Wetsuit (if you are warm, you will be more empowered to try new things and go beyond your comfort zone)

*Water shoes that cover your toes and with a good flat sole

*Water

OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED GEAR:

*G-Form Pads. The more protected you are, the more you will be excited to try new things

*Re-usable water bottle & snacks

*Sunscreen

*Neoprene gloves

*Waterproof cameras

*Ear plugs (preferably plugs you are able to hear well out of)

*Sunglasses and hat for sun protection when on shore

Join RVR 2 RVR for a river surfing clinic at the new Las Colonias Park. We will cover everything from gear, safety, and hydrology to popping up, weight distribution, and making/connecting turns.

Advance Boater River Operations

River Rescue Dynamics

The Advance Boater River Operations class educates those that intend to recreate in whitewater conditions on single or multiple day trips. This class builds on the Private Boater Awareness class and educates boaters on emergency situations, boat and swimmer rescues and bot rigging. This class emphasizes the technical aspects of white water boating and prepares you for the expected and unexpected.

 

Mandatory Gear:

*PFD designed for whitewater use

*protective footwear

*whistle

*Helmet suitable for whitewater use

*Protective clothing suitable for swimming in seasonal water temps

 

Optional But Recommended Gear:

*Gloves suitable for use in water

*River knife

*Throw rope

~Learn how to prevent river accidents and injuries
~Learn key self-rescue techniques
~Walking in moving water

~Assisting rescue from your boat
~Personal floatation device etiquette and types of vests

Private Boater Awareness

The objective of the Private Boater River Awareness class is to educate beginner and novice river recreators and boaters, on the hazards of the river and safe recreation techniques. This class is designed to teach you, your family and friends how to enjoy our local natural waterways in a safe and fun matter. Whether you are brand-new to the river or looking for some entry level training in whitewater, this class is designed to educate you in river preparedness, safety, hazard avoidance and self-rescue techniques.
